“WHERE NO WOOD IS, THERE THE FIRE GOETH OUT: SO WHERE THERE IS NO TALEBEARER, THE STRIFE CEASETH.” [PROVERBS 26:20]

Wood keeps the fire going and the talebearer keeps strife going. Remove the wood and the fire goes out. Silence the talebearer and strife ceases. In the following quote Matthew Henry reveals to us the full extent of tale bearing and how he/she should be handled. “Those who by insinuating base characters, revealing secrets, and misrepresenting words and actions, do what they can to make relations, friends, and neighbors, jealous one of another, to alienate them one from another, and sow discord among them, are to be banished out of families and all societies” The best way to stop a talebearer is to not listen. When confronted with a talebearer tell them you do not want to hear it and then share with them what Proverbs has to say about being a talebearer. Listening to the talebearer makes you part of the problem.
